Postgraduate Scholarships in Switzerland for International students:
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are funding program for young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and for foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree. Research scholarships (Research Fellowships, PhD, Postdoctoral) are open to postdoctoral researchers (with a master’s degree as a minimum requirement) who wish to come to Switzerland to conduct research or continue their studies at PhD or postdoctoral level. Research grants are awarded for research or training at all Swiss universities, colleges and two technical institutes, as well as four research institutes. Only candidates are selected by the course director at any of these colleges.
The art scholarship is open to art students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in art in Switzerland.The Art Scholarship is awarded to study at a Swiss conservatory or art university. This scholarship is only available to students from a few countries.
This scholarship covers a monthly stipend of CHF 1,920, tuition fees, health insurance, round-trip airfare and living expenses.
ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme
The Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Program (ESOP) supports students with scholarships, mentors and the ETH Foundation network. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition and living expenses for the duration of the second master’s degree. The application window is open from 1 November to 30 November 2024.
The Excellence Scholarship/ESOP consists of a grant covering living and study expenses (CHF 12,000 per semester) and a tuition fee waiver. The ESOP is awarded for the normal duration of the master’s programme (three or four semesters). The tuition fee must also be applied for. Only ETH Bachelor students can start the ESOP on leave.
The ESOP application is made via eApply (online Master Plan). This also applies to ETH Bachelor students in the follow-on program.
University of Lausanne (UNIL) Master’s Grants
The scholarship will be awarded within the timeframe accepted by the student’s chosen program. The amount is CHF 1,600 per month from September 15 to July 15 (or 10 months per year) for the entire duration of the master’s degree (one and a half years or two years depending on the chosen master’s degree), except in the following cases: Clear failure after completing the first year. Scholarship winners are exempt from the prescribed course registration fees, except for the fee of CHF 80.00 to be paid each semester.
EPFL Master Excellence Fellowships
This scholarship, worth CHF 10,000 per semester, is available to students who have completed their undergraduate studies at EPFL as well as to students who are starting their university studies at another institution. To be eligible for this scholarship, interested students must tick the relevant box on the main application page and submit their application file.
Although academic background is an important factor when evaluating applications, EPFL also takes into account candidates’ experience in different areas, such as research (books, awards or grants), entrepreneurship (patent applications, start-up creation) or social involvement (related activities). or organizing social activities, festivals and events).
In order to be eligible for an extension of the tenure in the second year of a second degree, the student must have obtained at least 50 ECTS credits and have an average of 5.0/6.
Graduate Institute Geneva Scholarships
This institution offers financial aid to students in financial need. The aid can be in the form of a full scholarship, a partial scholarship, and/or a discounted tuition fee.
Please note that all students are required to contribute to their tuition fees. Therefore, a full tuition fee reduction does not relieve the student from paying the annual cooperation contribution of CHF 1,000. This applies to all students receiving any form of aid, including full scholarships.
IMD MBA Scholarships
The IMD MBA Scholarship is a scholarship for international students. This scholarship is awarded to leaders in business management. The IMD Scholarship offers the recipient an award of CHF 85,000. This Scholarship is made to encourage students from around the world who do not have the funds to apply but have the ability, motivation and desire to pursue an MBA program.
This scholarship coverage varies, it covers up to CHF 65,000 of tuition fees.
VSBfonds Grant
The VSB Fund provides annual financing to postgraduate students who want to study abroad after their studies. It is not possible to use this grant for internship or research projects. You choose an educational institution abroad and prepare for admission. The educational institution you will study at must be recognized by the government of that country. If not, you will need to prove that the quality of the institution and your chosen course meets the German for higher education.
AAPG Foundation Grants-in-Aid
AAPG Foundation Grants-in-Aid is a scholarship by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation.
AAPG Grants-in-Aid provides financial support to graduate students (currently admitted in a Master’s or PhD program) whose research focuses on the exploration and development of petroleum and energy mineral resources and/or is related to the geological environment. Funding is based on merit and partly on the applicant’s income.
R&D Systems Scholarship
The R&D System is to support education in science with its scholarship program for students studying in science branches (health, healthcare, medicine, health).
Candidates must have a declared diploma in the field of science (health sciences, medicine, health). It is for all levels of education beyond high school. It is for only college/university students in the USA, Canada and European countries.
