The CEEPUS Scholarship Grant (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) is an academic exchange program in the fields of education and research which includes 15 Central European countries and offers to teachers and students the opportunity to spend a period of study or teaching abroad in a partner country university.
Established in 1995, it is in its third phase with growing success. This program supports different academic disciplines and helps build a network of cooperation between participating institutions.
The main activity of CEEPUS is the creation of university networks with common programs (created by at least 3 universities from 3 different countries). CEEPUS offers mobility grants for students and teachers, It is a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience between countries with a common cultural heritage and a strong history of academic cooperation.

CEEPUS Scholarship Value
With CEEPUS, there is no transfer of funds. There is an internal currency of one scholarship month. Each country, through participating universities, pays its incoming students and teachers. The scholarship rates here are adjusted to the local cost of living. Members receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses in the host country. The amount of the scholarship varies by country and is adjusted to reflect the local cost of living.
Travel costs: In some cases, CEEPUS provides financial assistance for travel costs to and from the host country

In addition to these countries, some universities from non-member countries can participate in CEEPUS through special agreements.
Eligibility Criteria for CEEPUS Scholarship
The CEEPUS Scholarships are open to students and faculty members who meet specific eligibility criteria below:
Applicants must be citizens of one of the CEEPUS member countries. Students from non-member countries can also apply if they are enrolled at a participating institution in a member country.
Students must be admitted into a study program at a participating university in a CEEPUS member country.
Faculty members must be employed at a participating institution in a CEEPUS member country. Students must have as well completed at least two semesters of study at their home institution before applying for a CEEPUS scholarship.
Although proficiency in the host institution’s language of instruction is important, specific language requirements vary by institution and program. English is commonly used as the language of instruction.
The period of study or teaching offered abroad must be related to the candidate’s field of study or professional expertise.
Priority is given to applicants participating in CEEPUS networks, which are academic collaborations organized between institutions in member countries. However, free travel apps (outside established networks) are also considered.
Fields of study
CEEPUS supports a wide range of academic disciplines, including:
1. Natural sciences: biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and mathematics.
2. Engineering and Technology: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology and Computing.
3. Social sciences and humanities: sociology, psychology, political science, history, philosophy, linguistics and cultural studies.
4. Trade and economics: business administration, economics, finance, marketing and management.
5. Medical and health sciences: medicine, nursing, public health and health management. 6. Arts and design: Fine arts, graphics, music, theater and media studies.
7. Agricultural science: Agriculture, forestry and food sciences.
8. Law and governance: law, human rights, governance and international relations.
Entry Requirements
Bachelor’s Programs :
- Students must have completed at least two semesters of study at the initial institution.
- Students must have Mastery of the host institution’s language of instruction.
Master’s Programs :
- Admission into a Master’s degree program at the home institution.
- Relevant academic background in the chosen field of study is required.
Ph.D. Programs :
- Admission into a Ph.D. program at the home institution.
- A strong research proposal is relevant to the applicant’s field of study.
Faculty Exchange :
- Employment at a participating institution within a CEEPUS member country.
- Teaching or research experience in the relevant field is also required.

A. Through a CEEPUS network

- Apply for mobility at your university
- The original NCO nominates you and sends your applications to the original NCO.
- The original NCOs forward your applications to the host country (host UPP / host NCO)
- Host NCOs provide scholarships and as well keep you informed.

- June 15 -for the fall term (first semester)
- October 31 for winter and spring terms (second semester)
B. As a freemover
Who are the free drivers? If your university is not a member of a network or if you want to join a university outside of a network, you can join the CEEPUS program only for the winter and/or spring semester in CEU. You need two documents: a letter of acceptance from the host institution, and a letter of recommendation from two different professors at your university. Teachers Application
Eligibility
citizenship of a CEEPUS member state (or an EU/EWR state respectively). Those who do not have the citizenship of a CEEPUS member state have to upload an “equivalent status document” (visa, residence permit) to apply.
minimum of 6 hours (conference and/or consultation) per working week (5 days) during the exchange
