Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship offers international students the opportunity to join a community of outstanding young people from around the world and continue their education at the University of Oxford. The scholarship program not only facilitates academic development but also provides lifelong and academic relationships.

Chevening Scholarships

The Chevening Scholarship is a full scholarship for international students. The Chevening Scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, an economy return flight to the UK and additional support and allowances to cover essential expenses.  Chevening is the British government’s international awards program to develop world leaders. Around 1,500 scholarships will be awarded worldwide.

Chevening is supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations and offers two types of awards: Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships, with recipients selected by British embassies and commissions worldwide. All Chevening applicants are required to show their educational qualifications, references and, without restriction, a UK university.

Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship is a PhD, Masters program-funded scholarship for international students. The Commonwealth Scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly allowance of £1,347 per month, return economy class flights to and from the UK and additional support and living expenses.

This award is Britain’s flagship program, aiming to contribute to Britain’s development goals. It is designed to attract international students to UK universities and also support sustainable development abroad.

As part of Britain’s commitment to the Commonwealth, around 700 students each year are offered the opportunity to study for a postgraduate degree at British universities and colleges.

To apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country. You are still eligible if you are a refugee or a person protected by the UK.
You must have a bachelor’s degree with at least upper secondary education (2:1). If you want to do a PhD, you will also need a master’s degree.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a scholarship for international students. It is available for postgraduate and doctoral studies. The grant provides up to 2,000 students and 15,612 families with £18,744 per year, health insurance, and development support.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship Program was established in October 2000 with a $210 million gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge, the largest gift ever made to a British university.

Gates Cambridge receives c. 80 full scholarships for excellent candidates from countries outside the UK to study for a postgraduate degree in any course at the University of Cambridge. Around two-thirds of these awards are available to PhD students, with around 25 in the US category and 55 in the international category.

Westminster Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships

The University of Westminster Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship is awarded to international students of black, Asian or minority backgrounds from developing countries.

Therefore, Nigerian students are eligible to receive this scholarship. The Scholarship offers selected students the opportunity to go into a full-time undergraduate program of their choice. Scholarship coverage is £15,000 in total, with successful candidates receiving £5,000 a year for three years.

The GREAT Scholarship

The Great Scholarship is a full scholarship for international students. These scholarships are available for postgraduate students. The scholarship covers tuition fees of up to $10,000 for a one-year course. This scholarship is funded by the UK government’s GREAT UK Campaign, the British Council and participating UK universities. Great Scholarships offer a wide range of UK university scholarships for international students across a range of courses. Each scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year course.

The University of West London International Ambassador Scholarship

The University of West London has a rich heritage of over 150 years in the provision of vocational education and training. The International Ambassador Scholarship is offered by the University to identify and financially support students who could become UWL ambassadors. As a recipient of the grant, you will represent the University in a variety of roles and play an active role in current and future marketing efforts. As part of your ambassadorial duties, you will be interviewed and photographed by the marketing department. You will also need to support the university’s activities by contributing to events organized by scientists and international organizations. The scholarship scheme offers up to £5,000 for first year students and up to £2,000 for postgraduate students towards tuition fees. There are 100 scholarships in total.
